Meg Doster, LMFT

EMDR therapist

My name is Meg. I'm an Enneagram 1, which means I've spent a good chunk of my life trying to get everything "right" and “good.” When I'm not in the therapy chair I'm probably cooking something that takes way longer than it should, trying a new recipe I'll inevitably tweak, or reminding myself that feeding people (including myself) is an act of care. I'm a recovering people pleaser who used to think conflict was the worst thing that could happen in a relationship. Turns out, avoiding it was actually worse. I still struggle with boundaries sometimes, but I've learned that maintaining them opens up way more freedom and connection than living without them ever did.

I work with people who feel stuck. People overwhelmed by shame, anger, and anxiety, who carry a deep fear of being intimately known. That fear of being known, and what might happen if you are, makes complete sense. And is achingly human. But here's what I've also learned: there's courage and freedom waiting on the other side of the things we're most afraid of. Whether it’s individual or couple’s counseling, the path to deeper connection with yourself and others runs straight through the mess, not around it.

If you're exhausted from playing it safe, swallowing your truth to keep the peace, or feeling like no one really knows you, you're my people.
